Nightingale is a very special care home for older members of the Jewish community providing the very best available in care. It is an independent charity that looks after over 200 people. Our residents are guaranteed a “home for life” and we offer them total security and peace of mind regardless of any deterioration in their physical or mental health.
All who live at Nightingale do so in a warm and loving environment and we do as much as we possibly can to make them feel comfortable and at home.
Our medical and nursing facilities are extensive. We are proud of our large and beautiful gardens with many walkways that are easily accessible for those in wheelchairs. Residents can enjoy a modern and welcoming café, an arts and craft centre where hidden talents may be discovered or existing ones encouraged and expanded. There is a synagogue, hairdressing salon, shop, dental surgery, a well equipped physiotherapy and occupational therapy department and a medical clinic. There is always plenty to do at Nightingale because we provide a wide range of activities.
A patron is a committed friend, somebody on whose support we know we can rely. In recognition of this we would be pleased, if it is your wish, to have your name printed on our notepaper and/or displayed prominently in the Home. You will be kept regularly informed of activities and plans for the future and special Patrons briefings will be held periodically. We also extend to you an invitation to visit Nightingale to see for yourself the work we are doing here with your support. A telephone call to facilitate arrangements would be appreciated because then we would have the opportunity of ensuring that a proper tour is arranged.
Many residents at Nightingale are supported to varying degrees by local authorities. Unfortunately, monies received from these sources fall far short of the actual costs of running this very special facility. Indeed, there are some residents for whom no funding is available at all. The only way we can maintain our standard of excellence is to look to the generosity of our many friends in the community. We cannot provide the level of service demanded of us unless we are able to budget and plan on a long term basis and therefore we must secure our most important source of income which is from the community that we serve. For this reason we are seeking a commitment of £5,000 per annum. If you are able to donate under the Gift Aid scheme this will enable us to benefit even further from your generosity.
